WALNUT CREEK – UC San Diego's Nicole Spangler has been named the Worth/California Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week for the weekend of Feb. 1-3.

Washington native, Spangler's dominant offense led the Tritons to a 3-1 opening weekend against Western Oregon.  She hit 7-for-11 for a .636 average, while tallying three doubles, four runs scored, and seven runs batted in.  She also took walks in two at-bats on the weekend. 

The senior first baseman's weekend was highlighted in Saturday's 10-8 win over the Wolves, when she connected for a perfect two-for-two with two doubles, two runs scored, three rbi's, and walk.
