11 CCAA Men's Soccer Players Named Daktronics All-West Region
WALNUT CREEK – 11 California Collegiate Athletic Association men's soccer players were named to the 2012 Daktronics All-West Region Team, it was announced Monday.
There were five individuals who received First Team honors including UC San Diego's Josh Cohen, Cal State Dominguez Hills Jordan Hatanaka, UC San Diego's Alec Arsht, and Cal State L.A.'s two dominant forwards, Antti Arvola and Rosario Bras.
The Tritons' goalkeeper, Cohen earned a First Team All-Region nod as the nations leader in goals against average (0.397). He allowed just five goals in 13 games played this season. The junior was also named the 2012 CCAA Most Valuable Defensive Player. Another asset to the conference's best defense was, First Team All-Region selection, Alec Arsht.
Cal State L.A. had two forwards named among the Regions best, with senior Rosario Bras receiving his second Daktronics All-Region honor in as many years with the Golden Eagles. Antti Arvola, who just wrapped up his senior year as well was named this season's CCAA Most Valuable Offensive Player of the year in addition to his first All-Region honors with the CSULA men's soccer team.
Jordan Hatanaka was the Toros leading defender and contributed greatly to Cal State Dominguez Hills 2012 CCAA Tournament berth.
The Daktronics Second Team included Sonoma State's Taylor Varnadore, Cal State Dominguez Hills Jio Santana, Cal State L.A.'s Juan Ochoa, Cal State San Bernardino's Lee Nishanian, along with Chico State's Micah Miranda and Mike Janjigian.
