S.A.A.C. brightens holidays for Sonoma County family
ROHNERT PARK --- The SONOMA STATE Student-Athlete Advisory
Committee (S.A.A.C.) made the holidays just a little brighter for
one Sonoma County family this December through their annual
Adopt-A-Family program. Through donations the organization
raised over $400 that went toward making sure one family had a very
merry Christmas.
S.A.A.C. raised the money through several endeavors,
including a 50/50 raffle at basketball games, face painting, and
the selling of t-shirts. With that money, several S.A.A.C.
representatives went shopping and fulfilled the wish list for one
lucky Sonoma County family. They also supplied the family
with a gift certificate to Safeway.
The family was sponsored through the Salvation Army and
included two parents and three children, aged 4-11.
Said S.A.A.C. president Megan
Catton, "It really made us feel good to do something
for a family in need."
The mission of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is to
enhance the total student-athlete experience at Sonoma State
University. Through community service and providing
activities for SSU Intercollegiate Athletic teams, S.A.A.C.
provides communication between student-athletes and the athletic
department.
