CSUMB SAAC Helps At KSBW's Share The Holiday Event
SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay
Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) volunteered with the
Salvation Army to assist KSBW's 26th Annual Share Your Holiday
event on Friday, Dec. 7 at the Graniterock store in Seaside.
The charity event set an all-time record by raising $120,627
in cash, 9,309 toys, 11,051 pounds of food and 1,724 items of
clothing and blankets for the Salvation Army.
"It was a great opportunity we had to work with the
Salvation Army,” said SAAC co-president and men's golfer
Dylan Jackson. “They are a fantastic
organization and our student athletes had a lot of fun helping.
It was an added bonus that we were able to get on the news
and get the SAAC and CSUMB name out there."
From noon until 8 p.m., the Otters helped out in shifts in
organizing the various donations. Each shift was interviewed on
camera by KSBW's Sports Anchor Dennis Lehnen.
"We are so proud to be able to coordinate this effort by
which everyone can come together to help those less
fortunate,” said Joseph W. Heston, President and General
Manager of KSBW. "Our 26th year of producing Share Your
Holiday was a tremendous success for the Salvation
Army."
CSUMB SAAC would like to give a special thanks to KSBW's
Dennis Lehnen as well as Major David Yardley and Vernon Devenport
from the Salvation Army.
Below is one of the four interviews that Dennis Lehnen did
with the CSUMB SAAC Reps.
