CCAA SAAC Canned Food Drive Produces Unprecedented Success
WALNUT CREEK - The California Collegiate Athletic Association
(CCAA) Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) accomplished
unprecedented success during its second annual canned food drive
that was held during the month of February.
The project was designed to raise awareness to the prevalence of
hunger in communities surrounding the 12 CCAA institutions, which
included collecting cans and providing the donations to local food
banks. The project resulted in the CCAA collecting a total of 3,517
cans, an increase of 1,102 cans in 2011.
For the second year in a row, Cal State L.A. led all conference institutions by collecting 806 cans. As a conference, the SAAC averaged 293.08 cans per institution, an increase of 91.83 cans per school.
