Fernandez Earns CCAA Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week Honor
SAN RAMON, Calif. – Cal Poly Pomona senior Lorraine Fernandez has been selected as the first California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for the 2017 season.
Fernandez led the Broncos to a first-place finish at the Kim Duyst Cross Country Invitational to open the 2017 campaign. The Westminster, Calif., crossed the line in 22:15.3 to capture the top spot individually.
Last year, Fernandez raced well at the NCAA Division II National Championships to guide CPP to a 19th-place finish while she posted at time of 21:45.9. CPP women’s cross country returns to action on Sept. 16 at the UC Riverside Invite.
