SAN RAMON, Calif - Cal State San Bernardino’s Lauren Nicholson has notched back-to-back California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Player of the Week accolades, and the third of the season, after a record-setting performance during the week of Oct. 23-29.

The senior from Upland broke a 17-year old record held by CCAA inaugural Hall of Fame member Kim Moronhunfola on Friday, powering down a 2017 NCAA Division II-best 29 kills on .490 hitting in the 3-0 win over Chico State. Her 29 kills eclipsed Morohunfola's 28 set against UC San Diego on Sept. 11, 2000. One night later, Nicholson tied for match-high honors with 11 kills in the sweep over Stanislaus State and helped hold the Warriors to a -.011 attack percentage.

For the week, Nicholson hit .416 with 40 kills and added 20 digs for the CCAA South Division leaders. With the performance against the Wildcats, Nicholson now holds two of the top four kill marks in three-set matches nationally.

Next up, the Coyotes host Cal State LA and welcome Cal State Dominguez Hills for a Saturday showdown. Both matches are slated for 7 p.m.
