Sonoma State's Analicia Garcia and Cal State San Marcos Vahagn Isayan Named CCAA Runners of the Week

SAN RAMON – Sonoma State's sophomore Analicia Garcia and Cal State San Marcos junior Vahagn Isayan snagged this season's final California Collegiate Athletic Association Runner of the Week honors after winning their respective races at the Santa Clara Bronco Open and Cal State San Marcos Cougar Challenge last Saturday.


Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week

Garcia has led the Seawolves all season and last week was no different as she claimed her third individual title in the program's last three races and set a new six-kilometer program record in the Open Division of last week's meet. 

The South San Francisco native traversed the 6K course at Baylands Regional Park in 21:02.2, shaving nine seconds off the program record that she set herself five weeks ago. 

As a team, SSU finished in sixth place among 16 teams that scored in the 6K Open Non-Division I group.

Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week

Isayan snagged his second victory and fourth top-five finish this season after completing the 8-kilometer course in 25 minutes and 16 seconds. 

The Tujunga product also led the Cougars to its 38 point team victory.
