TURLOCK - Chico State maintained its dominance over its California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) competition as the Wildcats claimed their eighth consecutive CCAA men's track and field championship Saturday in Turlock.

Chico State totaled 237 points to register a commanding 84-point victory over second-place Cal State L.A. (143).

UC San Diego (141.50) was third and followed by Cal Poly Pomona (135), Cal State Stanislaus (97.50) and Humboldt State (59).

Cal Poly Pomona's Jake Deavers was tabbed the Male Track Athlete of the Meet after taking first place in the 110 meter hurdles and helping the Broncos sweep the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays.

Cal State L.A.'s Julius Joseph was selected the Male Field Athlete of the Meet, while Daniel Parker of Chico State and Giorgio Bryant of Cal State L.A. were named Freshman of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, respectively.

Chico State's Kirk Freitas was voted Coach of the Year after leading the Wildcats to the team victory.
