CCAA Cross Country Female Runner of the Week
Hayley Tharp, Cal State Monterey Bay


WALNUT CREEK – Cal State Monterey Bay's Hayley Tharp was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association’s (CCAA) Female Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week of Aug. 30 - Sep. 5, it was announced on Monday.

Tharp, a junior from San Jose, Calif., placed 26th at the season-opening Notre Dame de Namur Invitational. She finished the five-kilometer race in a time of 20:55 to help the Otters to a sixth-place showing in the nine-team event.

Cal State Monterey Bay returns to action on Saturday when it competes in the Stanislaus Invitational in Turlock.

CCAA Male Cross Country Runner of the Week

WALNUT CREEK – UC San Diego's Jesse Morrill was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association’s (CCAA) Male Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week of Aug. 30 - Sep. 5, it was announced on Monday.

Morrill, a senior from Newport Beach, Calif., was the top individual finisher in the men's four-mile run at the UC San Diego Opener on Friday. He clocked a time of 22:15.3 to pace the field and help the Tritons to a first-place finish.

UC San Diego returns to action on Saturday when it competes in the Asics/UC Irvine Invitational.
