WALNUT CREEK – UC San Diego guard Jordan Lawley was named the California Collegiate Athletic Association’s (CCAA) men's basketball Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 1-7, it was announced on Monday. It marks the second time this season he has been honored.
Lawley, a senior from Lodi, Calif., turned in a pair of impressive outings as he averaged 26.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists to help the Tritons to a split of home contests against Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State L.A. He connected on 57.1 percent (16 of 28) of his field goal attempts, including five of 11 from 3-point range, and made 16 of 20 free throws.
Lawley scored a game-high 24 points and collected a team-best seven rebounds in a 68-58 loss to Cal State Dominguez Hills. He came back on Saturday to tally 29 points, four rebounds, three assists and a blocked shot in an 83-77 victory over Cal State L.A.
UC San Diego returns to action on Friday when it travels to Turlock to play Cal State Stanislaus.
