DEVORE, Calif. – The Chico State men’s cross country team continued its dominance of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) as it captured its seventh straight conference title at the Glen Helen Regional Park on Saturday.
The Wildcats claimed eight of the top 10 spots and totaled 17 points to post a convincing win over second-place UC San Diego, which tallied 72 points. Cal Poly Pomona (84) was third and was followed by Humboldt State (105), Cal State Stanislaus (113), San Francisco State (157) and Cal State Monterey Bay (199).
Chico State All-American Scott Bauhs out-ran the field and garnered Athlete of the Meet after turning in a course-record time of 25:23.4 in the 10,000-meter run. Teammates Brendan Scanlon (25:23.8) and Angel Marquez (25:27.8) placed second and third, respectively.
Cal Poly Pomona’s Jersain Torres, who was named the Newcomer of the Year, finished fourth after completing the course in a time of 25:39. Teammate Clint Hostetler garnered Freshman of the Year accolades after placing 16th with a time of 26:32.2.
