ROHNERT PARK, Calif- At Tuesday night's city council meeting, the City of Rohnert Park took a moment to honor one of its residents that has received honors on the national level. Long time Rohnert Park native and Sonoma State senior Lindsay Catton, a two-time All-American, was recognized for her achievements and presented with an official proclamation.
Catton, a graduate of Rohnert Park's Rancho Cotate High School, came to Sonoma State in 2006 and made an immediate impact. Playing alongside her sister Megan, Catton started 19 games during her freshman season, posting two goals and five assists. As a sophomore, Catton started 18 games and was named Second Team All-CCAA.
The first of her All-American honors came as a junior in 2008, when, as a defender, she led the team in scoring with nine goals and two assists. She backed that campaign up with another All-American season last fall when she scored five goals and assisted on three more.
A team leader, who started all 78 games of her four-year career at Sonoma State, Catton leaves the program with 17 goals and 14 assists. In addition to her offensive output, she was the backbone on some of the conference's best defenses of the last several years.
