Coyotes Hold off KWC in Day One Finale

 

ANAHEIM Ñ Cal State San Bernardino held off a late rally by Kentucky Wesleyan to defeat the Panthers 66-57 in the last game of Day One of Disney's Division II West Coast Tip-Off Classic.  

 

The eight-team tournament is presented by DisneyÕs Wide World of Sports and the Disneyland Resort. The three-day menÕs and womenÕs basketball tournament is being held at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena.

 

David Reichel led the way for CSU San Bernardino with a game high 17 points while Lance Ortiz and Reggie Brown chipped in 11 points each.  TJ Smith paced the Panthers with 15 points, 6 assists, and five steals while Jeff Fahnbulleh had a game high 12 rebounds.  KWC out rebounded the Coyotes 39-19, but had 33 turnovers.

 

CSU San Bernardino shot 47% from the field while KWC shot 43%.

 

The menÕs division of the tournament continues on Saturday with a 12pm contest between Montana State-Billings and CSU San Bernardino and at 2:30pm as Kentucky Wesleyan faces Metro State.  Metro State defeated Montana State-Billings 72-55 earlier this evening.
