CCAA All-Academic Award
WALNUT CREEK - A total of 513 student-athletes were named
California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Academic for
the 2012-13 academic year.
The number of awarded athletes increased by 33 from last years 480 total recipients. Leading the pack for the seventh consecutive year was UC San Diego with 74 student-athletes recieving All-Academic honors. The remaining 11 institutions had between 52 and 28 student-athletes who made the list.
To be eligible student-athletes must meet the following criteria:
1) Varsity student-athlete (must have earned a varsity letter per institutional criteria - e.g., no red-shirt student-athletes are eligible for this award)
2) Must be a student-athlete in one of the 12 CCAA-sponsored sports (men's cross country, women's cross country, men's soccer, women's soccer, women's volleyball, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's golf, men's outdoor track & field, women's outdoor track & field, baseball, and softball)
3) Undergraduate student athletes must earn a grade point average for the 2012-13 academic year of 3.40 or higher in a minimum of 24 semester/36 quarter units, which must be completed at the certifying institution. Non-graded unites may be included in the 24/36 unit total. Undergraduate student-athletes who are graduating mid-year must earn a 3.4 grade point average or higher in all units taken in the final their final academic year of attendance.
4) Graduate students are not eligible for CCAA All-Academic Awards.
